Shweta Tiwari (born 4 October 1980 in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh), Shweta Tiwari is an Indian film and television actress known for her roles of Prerna in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Sweety in Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi.
She is the winner of the fourth season of the popular reality television show Bigg Boss, a reality show based on the original Dutch Big Brother. She has done several TV serials, advertisements, reality shows, plays and cameos in some television serials.
Shweta Tiwari is the daughter of Nirmala and Ashok Tiwari. She was brought up in Mumbai and completed her education from the St. Isabel Girls School in Mumbai. She studied for her bachelor's degree at Burhani College, Mazgaon, Mumbai. She has a younger brother, Nidhaan.
Shweta started her acting career in 1999 with Kaleerein. She shot to fame for her role of Prerna in the television serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay which was produced by Balaji Telefilms. Kasauti ran successfully for 8 years and the show became one of the longest running TV serials of India. Shweta received a lot of appreciation and recognition for her role in the serial. Tiwari then acted in many other television serial & reality shows. Some of her other popular television serials include Aane Wala Pal, Karam, Kaahin Kissii Roz, Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat, Rishtey, Daddy Samjha Karo, Dost, Yatra, Naaginn and Ajeeb.
On 28 February 2008, her 8 years long running serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay finally ended. After that she was seen as one of the judges on the Star Plus reality dance show Aajaa Mahi Vay.
She also took part in the reality show Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, where she faced controversy for shower in the jungle. In 2010, she was seen as a judge in the Bhojpuri reality dance show named Dance Sangram. On 8 January 2011, Shweta won the reality show, Bigg Boss 4 defeating Ashmit Patel, The Great Khali and Dolly Bindra in the finals. She became the first female contestant to win the show. She won INR 1 crore as prize money.
Shweta has also appeared in films in Bollywood and Bhojpuri cinema. She has played supporting roles in Madhoshi (2004), Abrakadabra and Benny And Babloo (2010). She also appeared in the Bhojpuri film Hamar Sayian Hindustani along with her ex-husband Raja Chaudhary.
In 2011, she did an item song and a cameo role in the film Bin Bulaye Baraati and an item song in the movie "Miley na Miley Hum". Her current projects include her daily serial Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi on Sony TV, the Indo-Pak movie named Sultanat, Gopal My Bro (in which she is coming with Karanvir Bohra) and Married to America. She is also a producer and is producing television serials and films.
On June 1, 2013, the next reality show she has took part in is Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (season 6) in where most fans have took her side with an amazing hope. In 1998, at the age of 18, Shweta married actor Raja Chaudhary. They divorced after nine years together in 2007. The couple have a daughter named Palak.
Shweta is in a relationship with actor Abhinav Kohli. Although Shweta talks about her personal life very rarely in front of the media. But in 2010, when she was inside Bigg Boss house, in an episode, where she was shown talking about her boyfriend to fellow contestant Sameer Soni, she confirmed that she is in love with television actor Abhinav Kohli. They fell in love with each other while shooting for TV serial Jaane Kya Baat Hui. They plan to get married sometime in mid-2013.
