Mohit Mahipal Sharma (born 18 September 1988) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Haryana. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler.
Following his work with world renowned pace bowling coach Ian Pont, Sharma picked up 37 wickets from 7 games at an average of 23 in the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy. He was then contracted by the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings for the 2013 season. He played 15 matches in 2013 Indian Premier League and took 23 wickets.
Mohit Sharma came into prominence after a good 2012-13 Ranji Trophy season where he ended up being the fifth-highest wicket taker that year. His consistent good shows in the domestic circuit earned him a contract with the Chennai Super Kings in 2013 and since then has been a vital part of the CSK pace attack. He flourished under MS Dhoni’s leadership who often handed him responsibilities with the new ball where Mohit replied in kind giving the side early breakthroughs. Sharma boast of accuracy as one of his main strengths with an ability to bowl consistently at a particular line and length irrespective of the batsman and the conditions. He received a maiden India call-up in 2013 for the tour of Zimbabwe where he impressed one and all with a Man-of-the-Match performance on ODI debut. His best bowling performance however came against Bangladesh in 2014 where he had figures of 4/22. Since then Mohit has been on and off the Indian side but has always kept himself in the fray for national selection with consistent IPL & domestic performances.
